Matilda Cote

Matilda (Tavares) Cote 86 of New Bedford, died Monday January 25, 2010 at St. Luke's hospital. She was the widow of Donald E. "Bud" Cote and daughter of the late Joseph R. and Nora (Cabral) Tavares. She was born in South Dartmouth and had lived in Rochester, Fairhaven and New Bedford. She was formerly employed at Paul Modes as a stitching supervisor and at Calvin Klein until her retirement in 1987. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James church and was a former vice president and coordinator for the senior club. Survivors include her sons Lawrence E. Cote and his wife Coleen of Westport, Ernest G. Cote and his wife Sharon of Baltimore, David D. Cote and his wife Irma of Texas; her grandchildren Melissa Cote, Matthew Cote and his wife Maureen, Scott Cote, Jared Cote, Alexis Cote, Steven Cote and his wife Lisa, Richard Cote; several great-grandchildren including Ryan Cote; several nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James church. Visitation will be Friday 4-7pm. Burial will be in Rural cemetery.
