Olivia “Olive” Teixeira, 94 of New Bedford passed away Wednesday March 6, 2013 at Southeast MA Rehab Center. She was the daughter of the late Manuel Enos Correia and Maria E. Mendonca. Olivia was born in New Bedford. She and her husband were the owners of the Economy Bakery for many years. Olivia was a member of the Blue Birds group of the Brooklawn Senior Center. She loved to partake in many of the activities offered at Southeast MA Rehab Center and was even given the title of 2013 Royal Coronation Queen this past Valentine’s Day.
Olivia was the beloved wife of the late James Teixeira, sister to the late Frank Correia, Antone Correia, Ernest Correia and late Alice Cahleta. Also the mother of the late Evelyn Machado, James Teixeira Jr. and the James Teixeira.
She is survived by her son David Teixeira of Weymouth; her daughters Madeline Bettencourt of New Bedford, Joan Alley of Acushnet, Priscilla Martin of Dartmouth, Theresa DiPietro of Lakeville and Nancy Teixeira of Acushnet; her sisters Erondina Parsons of Connecticut and Elsie Simmons of New Bedford. Olivia has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Olivia’s Funeral Mass will be held Monday March 11 th at 10am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Her visiting hours will be Sunday evening from 5-8pm at Boulevard Funeral home 223 Ashley Blvd New Bedford. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery.
