Paul Avelar

Paul J. Avelar 53 of New Bedford passed away Wednesday May 29, 2019 at home. He was the son of Jacinto J. DeAvelar and Maria Cecilia (Pimentel) Avelar of New Bedford. He was born in Flores, Azores and had lived in New Bedford since 1974. Paul was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was employed as a laborer for Union 385 in Fairhaven. Survivors include his parents, his daughter Rachel Avelar and her wife Maria C. Avelar of Rochester, NY; his brothers Jose J. Avelar and his wife Connie of New Bedford and Arlindo Avelar and his wife Shirley of New Bedford. He is also survived by his nephew Nathan Avelar and his wife Amanda of New Bedford. His funeral mass will be said 10:30 am on Wednesday June 5 at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours will be 5-8pm, Tuesday. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery
