Richard Russek Sr

Richard Russek Sr, 95 of New Bedford, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Friday, April 11, 2025. Born in New Bedford he was the son the late Edward Rusek and Josephine (Sowinski) Rusek. He was the loving husband to the late Eileen (Furtado) Russek. 

Richard was a longtime foreman at Alden Corrugated Co before his retirement. He was a passionate New England sports fan who enjoyed talking all things Celtics, Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox. As a talented bowler, he can take claim to 3, 300 games to his resume. He enjoyed smoking cigars and scratching tickets. Richard honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. 

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Rogers and her husband Richard; daughter-in-law Barbara Russek; grandchildren Todd Rogers, Craig Rogers, Erica Rogers, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Richard is preceded in death by his son Richard Russek Jr, brother Daniel Rusek, sisters Patricia Rusek and Evelyn Bourdeau. 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at the Boulevard Funeral Home from 9am-12pm with a Funeral Service and Honor Guard presentation beginning at 11:30am. Cremation will follow.
