Ronald G. Boivin Jr. 54 passed away Wednesday September 6, 2017 at home. He was the son of Ronald G. “Butch” Boivin and the late Doris (Duval) Boivin. He was born in New Bedford. Ronald was a communicant of St. John Neumann Church. He was employed by ASCO/ Emerson Co. as an engineering service tech for 24 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving for 6 years on the USS Minneapolis St. Paul, SSN 708, fast attack submarine as a nuclear plant operator. He graduated from N.B. Vocational High School and U Mass Dartmouth, formerly SMU, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was very proud of his sons and was a devoted and loving father. Survivors include his sons Trevor Boivin and Cameron Boivin both of Lakeville; his father Ronald G. “Butch” Boivin of New Bedford, his brother Gerard Boivin and his wife Linda Morrison of Cumberland, Maine, his sister Suzanne Bonneau of New Bedford. He is also survived by many aunts and uncles, nieces and a nephew. His funeral mass will be held Tuesday 11am at St. John Neumann Church. Visiting hours are kindly omitted. Burial with military honors will be at the Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
