Rosa Ferreira

Rosa (Gomes) Ferreira 92 of New Bedford passed away Monday March 11, 2013 at St. Luke’s hospital. She was the wife of Joao Pedro Ferreira and daughter of the late Manuel Soares Gomes and Claudina Gomes. She was born in Pico, Azores and had lived in New Bedford for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Rosa was formerly employed in the textile industry until her retirement. Survivors include her husband; her brothers Antonio Soares Gomes of New Bedford, Joao Soares Gomes of St. Michael; her sisters Rosalina Gomes, Fatima Gomes, Elena Gomes and Sylvina Gomes-Vidro all of Pico. Also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Thursday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Wednesday 5-8pm.Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.
