Rosa Goncalves

Rosa (Lopes) Goncalves 67 of New Bedford passed away on Thursday May 31, 2012  at St. Luke’s hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Fernando Goncalves and daughter of the late Jose and Ana (Conceicao) Lopes. She was born in Redondelo, Chaves, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford since 1968. Mrs. Goncalves was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Survivors include her husband, her son Jose Antonio Goncalves of New Bedford, her daughter Elizabeth Cowen of Fall River, her brothers Antonio Lopes of New Bedford, Jose lopes of Fairhaven, Fernando Lopes of Freetown; her sisters Ana martins of New Bedford, Idalina Lopes of New Bedford, Leonora Buckley of Bridgeport, CT; her grandchildren Chelsea Goncalves, Corey Goncalves, Mason Cowen; also many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Arminda daConceicao Carneiro. Her funeral mass will be said 10:30am Monday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Sunday 5-8pm.Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.
