Sophie Furtado

Sophie Furtado 82 of Dartmouth passed away Monday August 1, 2011 at St. Luke’s hospital. She was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Antonia (Pimental) Furtado. She was a lifelong Dartmouth resident. She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart church. Miss Furtado was employed at Eastern Sportswear as a designer and at Tremblay’s Bus as a van driver until her retirement. She loved music, driving, crossword puzzles and sports, especially baseball. Survivors include her brother Manuel “Larry” Furtado; her sister Rose Rapoza both of Dartmouth; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Rapoza, Joseph Furtado, Arthur Furtado, John Furtado, Ernest Furtado and John Furtado. Her funeral mass will be said 9 am Saturday at St. Julie Billiart church. Visiting hours are Friday 6-8pm.Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.
