Valdemar Borges

Valdemar G. Borges 82 of New Bedford passed away Friday May 4, 2012 at St. Luke’s hospital. He was the husband of the late Marcelina (Sousa) Borges and son of the late Ilidio and Margarida (Gomes) Borges. He was born in Terceira, Azores and had lived in New Bedford for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Mr. Borges was formerly employed as a sander for Tillison and Pearson until his retirement. He was an avid Sporting soccer club fan. Survivors include his son Eduardo Manuel Borges and his wife Maria of New Bedford; his sisters Florencia Dias and Iria Andrade both of Terceira, Belmira Martins of Pico; his grandchildren Kara Borges Camacho and her husband Claudio M.; Katelyn Marie Borges, Jacob E. Borges; his great-granddaughter Kilee Danae Camacho; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joao B. Borges, Eugenio Borges and Merces Borges. His funeral mass will be said 8:45am Wednesday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5-8pm. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
