Virginia I. (Medeiros) Arruda, 81, of New Bedford, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Livramento, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Virginio Martins and Virginia (Medeiros) Martins and wife of the late Antonio O. Arruda. Virginia worked many years as a stitcher at Cliftex Corp before becoming the owner of Imperial Bakery which she owned until 2004.
Survivors include her daughters; Lucia Monz, Eusebia Arruda, Maria Arruda, Patricia Arruda, Stephanie Arruda, Kathy Lee Arruda; son, Manuel Arruda; sisters, Evalina Carreiro, Maria DosAnjos Bizzaria, Conceicao Cabral; brother, Manuel Medeiros; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her sisters; Teresa Rego and Maria DoCarmo DaCosta.
A visitation will be held at the Boulevard Funeral Home on Thursday, November 16th from 8-10am, with a Funeral Mass to follow at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
