Virginia Martins

Virginia (Mimoso) Martins 74 of New Bedford passed away Saturday April 22, at home, after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Armando Martins and daughter of the late Joao and Zora (Cardoso) Mimoso. He was born in Linhares, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford since she was 9 years old. Virginia was formerly employed as a stitcher at Cliftex until her retirement. She was loved by many. Survivors include her husband, 3 daughters Nancy Amaral and her husband Paul, Lisa DaCunha and her husband Bobby, Linda DeMelo and her husband Syl all of New Bedford; 3 sisters Arminda DeSousa and her husband Daniel of New Bedford, Amelia Carreiro of Acushnet, Alzira Castelo and her husband Joe also of Acushnet; her brother Anibal “BB” Mimoso of New Bedford, 5 grandchildren Timothy and Landon Amaral, Paige and Casey DeMelo and Peyton DaCunha. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her visitation will be held Tuesday 5-8pm. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers donations to any cancer organization would be appreciated.
