Virginio Simas

Virginio M. Simas 78 of New Bedford died on Sunday December 27, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Home. He was the husband of Maria Dilia (Borges) Simas, to whom he was married to for 53 years. He was also the son of the late Manuel De Medeiros Graca and Maria Elvira Simas. He was born in Sao Pedro de Nordestinho, St. Michael, Azores and had lived in Brazil for 21 years before settling in New Bedford 29 years ago. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. He was formerly employed by International Dryer Corp. as a machine operator until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, his daughters Lucia Rebelo and her husband Jose of Acushnet, Sandra Gallucci and her husband John of Colchester, CT, his brother Armindo De Medeiros Graca of Brazil, his granddaughters Stephanie Medeiros and her husband Tiago of New Bedford, Gina Gallucci of Colchester, CT, nieces, nephews and a god child. He was the brother of the late Egidio Graca, Jaime Graca and Manuel Graca. His funeral mass will be said Wednesday 10:30am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-9pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.
