Weber Fernandes

Weber Frias Fernandes 82 of New Bedford passed away at home on Friday April 20, 2012. He was the husband of Maria Teresa (Vieira) Fernandes and son of the late Joao Frias Fernandes and Maria Frias. He was born in Lomba Pomar, Povacao, St. Michael, Azores and had lived in New Bedford since 1972. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Mr. Fernandes was formerly employed as a machine operator at various manufacturing companies and in the housekeeping department at St. Luke’s hospital until his retirement. Survivors include his wife his sons Luis Fernandes of Acushnet, Victor Fernandes of Freetown, Jose Fernandes of Acushnet, Robert Fernandes of Acushnet; his daughters Carminda Lerias of New Bedford, Lina Reis of Dartmouth, Maria Conceicao Carreiro of Dartmouth, Helia Monteiro of Acushnet, Stephanie Ferreira of Acushnet; his brother Antonio Fernandes of Portugal; 20 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Aida Fernandes. His funeral mass will be said 9am Monday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Sunday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
